Huey Long

T. Harry Williams

First, you have to understand that this is not only an important book, but an enjoyable one, fascinating and beautifully written.

Second, let’s put Huey in perspective. He was a kind of a white Jesse Jackson. He called up strong emotions. No one was neutral about him.

Finally, he was one of the most extraordinary figures in American political history. He was a great politician. He played the part of a redneck, but at his death was nearly FDR’s equal in influence.

“Captures the essential quality of Huey Long; the gut politician, the man who intuitively sensed and answered the unarticulated needs of his time.” (B-O-T Editorial Review Board)
