Award: Women's Prize for Fiction

The “Bessie”

The Women's Prize for Fiction (previously the Orange Prize for Fiction) celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in women’s writing from throughout the world. It is awarded by a panel of five women, all passionate readers and at the top of their respective professions.

Nominations are made by U.K. publishers. The author can be a woman of any nationality. The book must be a full length novel, written in English (not translated), and published in the U.K.

The winner receives £30,000 and a bronze figurine called the “Bessie”.
