Six books have been shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize. They were chosen from a longlist of thirteen, itself originally whittled down from 151 submitted titles. Each author must be a citizen of the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland.
The winner of the 2013 prize will be announced in London on 15 October, in a ceremony covered by the BBC. Each of the six shortlisted writers is awarded £2,500 and a specially commissioned beautifully handbound edition of his/her book. The winner receives a further £50,000.
