Blog: Shortlists for the 2012 Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals

The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) has announced the shortlists for the 2012 Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Children's Book Awards. Librarians from across the UK nominated titles for the longlist, and twelve librarians from CILIP's Youth Libraries Group have discussed the long list and chosen titles for the shortlist.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony at London's Barbican Centre on Thursday, 14 June.

Carnegie Medal

The CILIP Carnegie Medal is the UK's oldest and most prestigious book award for children's writing.

Kate Greenaway Medal

The CILIP Kate Greenaway Medal, established in 1956 and named in honour of the distinguished illustrator is awarded for "outstanding illustration in a children's book".
