Long Neck, the dinosaur, thinks he lives alone in the forest with only small animals and birds for company, until one day Thunder Foot appears. Both dinosaurs are terrified, Long Neck of Thunder Foot's noisy, bony scales, and Thunder Foot of Long Neck's thumping tail. Instead of talking it through, like sensible dinosaurs, they run away and think up dire ways of defeating each other. Their traps don't work, however, and in a wonderful denoument, they realize they are frightened of each other - whereupon they become best friends! Funny and satisfying with Foreman's wonderful, glowing illustrations, this is a well-deserved classic.
