Fledgling writer Briony Tallis, as a 13-year old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister’s (Academy Award® nominee Kiera Knightley—Pride and Prejudice) lover (James McAvoy—The Last King of Scotland) of a crime he did not commit. Focus Features presents Atonement, opening December 7 in theatres nationwide. In England in 1935, on the hottest day of the year, in the looming shadow of World War II, Briony Tallis and her family live a life of wealth and privilege in their enormous Victorian Gothic Mansion.
