Gillian Avery
Willy Overs is a 12-year-old Manchester boy early last century, whose aspirations to shine academically look like being thwarted by his Father's well-intentioned desire for his son's early employment. Willy runs away and spends a few days helping an old lady run her country shop, during which time he grows up and is able to face his father back home.
