Grammy Award
From AwardAnnals
The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, usually called The Recording Academy, bestows the Grammy Award to recordings in 108 categories across 32 fields, from rap to classical. The Grammy Awards are the only peer-presented award to honor artistic achievement, technical proficiency and overall excellence in the recording industry, without regard to album sales or chart position.
Eligible works are submitted by record companies and Academy members, and are screened by experts in various fields. Members vote in their fields of expertise and in the General category: The first-round ballot to determine finalists and a final ballot to determine winners. The final results are kept secret until the awards ceremony.
