Since 1967, the Boston Globe–Horn Book Awards have recognized excellence in literature for children and young adults. The winners and honors are usually announced in June, and a ceremony held in Boston the following Fall.
A winner and as many as two honor books are selected in three categories by a single independent panel of three judges appointed by the Editor of the Horn Book. Eligible books must be published in the U.S. and submitted by the publisher.
Winners receive $500, an engraved bowl, and publication of their acceptance speeches in the Horn Book Magazine. Honor recipients receive an engraved plate.
