Newbery Medal

The John Newbery Medal, named in honor of the eighteenth-century British bookseller, is one of several medals bestowed by the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC), part of the American Library Association (ALA). The Newbery is awarded annually to the author of the most distinguished American literary work for children in English. The author must be a U.S. citizen.
